Title:

Stop GIF Animations

Date Added:

Description: IE has an option to disable gif animations (Advanced Internet Options/Settings/Multimedia/Play animations in web pages,) but that also disables CSS filters, which I occasionally use.

This script simulates hitting the browser's Stop button when the web page is completely loaded. According to the MSDN documentation, the Stop command identifier for the execCommand method is "Not currently supported," but it works anyway. (There's also a StopImage command, but I haven't tried it.)

It could potentially interfere with a script that's currently running, but I haven't run into that problem yet.

Please try StopImage and see if it works.
Because Stop can have collateral effects that are not desirable...
